  • this is a song only a fan would no!!!

  • Feeling you on this, remember when there was a party and your mother always had you dance for the guest. Wow those were the dances with all the great music to go with it. Everyone including me wanted to be a Tempation and I a girl, but we all sang they're songs to death.

  • Somebody on here said that the Staples Singers version of this was the difinitive version. So I went and listened to it. The verdict? NO WAY. This version is superior in every way. First off the Tempts harmonies cannot be equaled by the Staples or any other group at the time. The music on this arrangement is also superior. You can't do better than Benny Benjamin on drums and James Jamerson on bass. Just those two elements themselves make this version superior. My vote still goes to this version

  • @MIMI88998899 Hey did you grab the brush and sing into like a microphone ? Lord we'd have anything and pretend to be who ever ,lord I miss those days . Wish mt parents were here now .If there was anything in your life that you could chose to stay in here would , for me I'd be stuck in 1966 ..15 year and all was very well, wish I could reach back for just one more day.ahhhhh

That's so true about having to dance for your parents guest. At least we had the music to dance off unlike what they are playing on the radio today. No wonder the kids can't dance today; they have nothing to dance too.

  • like it, like it, like it, like it.....

  • @MJJR1 OHHHHH YEAH! THE STAPLE SINGERS REALLY EARNED IT! AND MAVIS WITH THAT VOICE...RICH PASSIONATE SOUL. MMMMPH!

  • I loved this tune back in the day. The Temps did a fine job with it, but the Staple Singers scored a home run with this song. Their version is superior because of the innovative arrangement, utilizing the Bar-Kay horns. Excellent song.

  • @lorrrence I only first heard this a few years ago when it showed up on an anthology CD...

  • I think it's amusing how they sing part of this song with a distinct New Orleans accent ("you've got to choin it" and "you've got to oin it")

  • I'm definitely a big Motown fan; especially the rare tracks like this one.

  • Definitely one my favorites, this is great! However, it must be said, that the Staple Singers version on The Staple Swingers album is the definitive version of this song.
