Okay, it's very normal for Dracula to have somesort of demonic form that you fight after whipping the teleport-n-fireball form. However! It is very abnormal that you get a break to save and do whatever else you want. I mean, the two forms are like always immediately after each other, and it's not like the first form was so difficult that it would be insane to not give you a break.
Anyways, Dracula's second form has two distinct phases. In the first phase, different body parts will emit a flash of light to indicate which attack he's gonna use.
When Drac's tail-mouth-things flash: Dracula's tail creatures will begin to release poisonous globules. These can easily be dispersed by spinning Nathan's whip.
When Drac's hands flash: Dracula will perform his most dangerous attack... THE METEOR STORM. Yep, this attack is the reason why you want to get through the first phase as quickly as possible. My strategy to dodge this attack is to duck away from Dracula and slide if I think a meteor is gonna smack into me. Of course, you could be screwed if two meteors are right next to each other, but... meh, it's probably still your best option.
When Drac's shoulders flash: Dracula's shoulders will shoot lasers along the ground that will cause a burst of fire to appear shortly after. He can't hit you if you're standing on the platform, so it's the perfect time to break out Diana + Manticore. Yep, a spell that many people probably simply passed over really puts the hurt on The Count. That's why it's always a good idea to experiment with everything ya got. :)
When Dracula's entire body flashes pretty colors, he will enter his... very irritating second phase.
The second phase consists of the following pattern: 2-4 charges followed by that stupid giant floating eyeball looping around the stage 1-2 times. While the charging attack is extremely strong (it can kill my current Nathan in a single hit), it can easily be avoided by performing a rocket jump. After the charges, the eyeball will temporarily fly around with its bat bodyguards. This is your only opportunity to damage Dracula during its second phase. Jupiter + Manticore provides a good shield for when a bat separates from the group and tries to whack ya, but you will still get damaged if you ram into the cluster.
Unfortunately, the small window to damage Dracula followed by long periods of dodging charge attacks can really really really drag out the fight. If you're not so good at hitting that dumb eyeball, then I can easily see this battle becoming like twenty minutes long. Of course, if your aim isn't good, you can always use summons if you have them...
I have to admit... I really like Castlevania and I really really like Circle of the Moon. But honestly, this Dracula fight sucks major ass. I mean, the first form is a joke and the second form becomes too repetitive. Oh well, Circle of the Moon is still one of my favorite Castlevania games overall.
I killed him with the wind wave instead. Its much faster plus im throwing the crucifix at him. I love Circle of the Moon because of the background music. They are very well done especially in Audience Room. My favourite battle is with Death and the Dragons. I think the ones on the PSP should have been a full 3D game looking similar to Devil May Cry. Nice vid! It sure brings back memories from the old days.
