Don't let Limbaugh and Hannity fool you this is a win for us not Obama. This number proves to the american people that the November revolution was not a fluke but the Tea party patriots and the new republican majority meant business. This proves when you lower taxes businesses will invest!

  • That 8.9% is a flat out lie. REAL seasonally adjusted rate is almost 23%.... underemployment is 19.9%.... less than half of all who are able to work are working.....500,000 jobs were PERMANENTLY lost in 2010. THAT is what we should be hearing from our "leaders", but of course we won't.

  • The taxes here in NY are just getting worse and worse. My grandfather pays a rediculous water tax even if a drop never comes out of any of the faucets all year long. I'm all for paying taxes and what not but it's getting more and more rediculous.

  • stupid democrat. Obama hasn't done jackshit yet. He didn't kill osama, the navy seals did!

  • In November 2011 there was 15.1 million unemployed with 9.8% in November 2012. The total pool of unemployed was (15.1 million/9.8%)=154,081,632

    .

The unemployment rate currently is 8.9% with 13.7 million unemployed totaling 153,932,584 in the workforce

    .

Between November 2010 & March 2011, 149,048 are no longer in looking for work (154,081,632-153,932,584). This almost cancels the Nonfarm payroll employment increased by 192,000 jobs created in private industry for the month of February

  • These tax extensions supposedly worked now, yet they didn't work in the early 2000's under Bush? Please...

The US has had a decade of the current tax rate, and throughout the entire time, unemployment hasn't fallen to the levels seen under Clinton's presidency, so obviously these tax extensions aren't responsible. The data is telling economists that people have simply stopped looking for work and filing jobless claims, so it all looks better on paper, but in reality, not much has improved.

  • @PatriotInChief I agree Obama just extended what Bush did. However the outcome is the same. I don't like Obama either but most politicians are bad. Rome is burning and they just argue!

  • love your approach Will, bless, its good to see someone else saying what I have been.

  • There are only so many people that can fall out of the 'actively searching' category before the unemployment numbers will naturally drop. Real un/under-employment is around 20% and unless we see capital gains tax cuts, it's not going to get better.

  • we are on the verge of a double dip recession..mark my words...

  • @jediwill1974

I have to disagree with you. All indicators suggest that as unemployment decreases, welfare rates have risen dramatically. You see, after 9 months, whether you have a job or not, the government no longer counts you as being unemployed. Given the huge increases in welfare recipients, the actual number of unemployed in our country is rapidly increasing. It's not a win for anyone.
