Tutorial video on how to remove scratches from your cellphone screen. If toothpaste, bananas, lotion, vaseline, CD cleaner, and Brasso hasn't worked, THIS WILL.
This is a "last resort" kind technique, and requires a lot of caution and patience. If you can purchase a replacement screen or housing faceplate for $20-$30, I would highly recommend you do so. This tutorial is design to remove scratches if the replacement screen is $100+.
You will need:
- water
- scissors (to cut tape)
- electric tape
- a pen
- paper towels
- 2 cleaning clothes (microfibre = good)
Sandpaper:
- 400 grit
- 800 grit
- 1000 grit
- 1500 grit
- 2000 grit (if you can get some)
----
How to Wet-Sand
- spray on a bit of water
- sand the screen using medium pressure until the previous scratches vanish
- dab with paper towel and check for evenness
- repeat if necessary
- once the screen looks even, process to the next grit of sandpaper
How to Polish
- dab on a generous amount of polishing compound
- rub in a circulate motion with medium pressure using a cleaning cloth
- rub until the compound disappears
- buff/wipe with a seperate cleaning cloth
- repeat if screen doesn't have a glassy finish
This process may take up to an hour or more.
Be sure to:
- TAKE THE BATTERY OUT
- DON'T BUFF / POLISH WITH DIRTY CLOTHES
- DON'T USE TOO MUCH WATER
- BE PATIENT
If you can, practice on another device you don't use and don't ever plan on using.
Best of luck guys!
