مريم آل خليفة -- العشيقة الهاربة مع الأمريكي 1999

دخلت الشيخة "مريم بنت عبدالله بنت إبراهيم آل خليفة" (مواليد 1980) عالم الشهرة بعد هروبها في نوفمبر 1999 مع عشيقها الأمريكي "جاسن جونسن -- Jason Johnson" من قوات المارين -- والذي كان يعمل في القاعدة العسكرية الأمريكية في البحرين -- حيث تدبّـر العشيق الأمريكي أمر تزوير بطاقة هوية أمريكية لمريم وهربها إلى أمريكا من دون علم العائلة الخليفة، وقد حصلت مريم على اللجوء السياسي في أمريكي بعد أن لاحقتها عائلتها في محاولات عديدة بائسة من أجل طمس الفضيحة التي سعدت بها الصحافة الأمريكية وراحت تتكلم عن قصة العشيقين ليل نهار؛ وصار المصورين يلاحقون هذان العشيقان كل مكان ويصورونهم كل لحظة.

لم تتحمل العائلة الخليفة الفضيحة حتى أن الزوجان قالا في مقابلة لهما مع قناة "سي بي اس نيوز -- CBS News" أن مريم قد تتعرض إلى "الجلد أو الإعدام أو الرجم أو القتل أو الرمي بالرصاص" في حال رجوعها لبلدها البحرين.

والأكثر من كل ذلك، أخبر العشيق الأمريكي وكالات الأنباء أنه حصل على اتصال من الاستخبارات الأمريكية "اف بي اي -- FBI" وقد أخبروه أن العائلة الخليفية قد دفعت مبلغ "500,000 -- خمسمائة ألف دولار أمريكي" لرجل سوري الجنسي مقابل اغتيال مريم.

في عام 2001 وصلت شهرة قصة العشيقين الهاربين إلى جعل المخرج "ماري ال آليو -- Mary L. Aloe" يترجم قصتهم إلى فلم بعنوان "الأميرة ورجل المارين -- The Princess and the Marine" وهو فلم مشهور جداً.

انفصل العشيقان وعادت مريم للبحرين في سبتمبر 2001 بعد أن عفت عنها العائلة الخليفية. وتم الطلاق رسمياً بين العشيقين في 17 نوفمبر 2004.



Maryam Al-Khalifa -- Eloped Lover with American Marine 1999

Shaikha "Maryam Abdulla Ebrahim Al-Khalifa" (born in 1980) became famous after eloped with her lover; the US Marine "Jason Johnson" -- who was working in the American Military Base in Bahrain.
Johnson helped Maryam escaped from Bahrain to US by using forged documents (fake American ID card) and without the knowledge of her family.

She then got the US political asylum after many desperate attempts from her family to suppress the scandal. However, American media enjoyed shedding light on the tempting love story day and night, and photographers chased the two lovers everywhere and shoot them at every moment.

Al-Khalifa family could not bear the scandal. Johnson and Maryam said in interview with CBS News that if she returned to Bahrain, she would be "lashed or executed or stoned or killed or shot".

Further, Johnson told the press that FBI once told him they had intercepted a Syrian national who said he'd been paid USD 500,000 to assassinate her.

In 2001, film and television producer "Mary L. Aleo" transitioned their love story into a movie named as "The Princess and the Marine" which had become a very popular movie.

The two lovers separated and Maryam returned to Bahrain in September 2001 after Al-Khalifa family pardoned her. The official divorce took place on November 17, 2004.
