maybe i'll be able to buy a light like this someday...3 weeks ago i wasn't aware of polarion, et al...surefire was the extent of my 'knowledge'...i was looking for a good, small 'edc' light so i googled to find something better than a mini maglight & - stumbled upon the 'cpf' site...ya bastards!!...turned me into an addict...in 2 weeks since i bought a tk-41, 2 jetbeams, e11, o2, & few smaller lights i gave my family..tk-70's next...i'll likely register on cpf soon too...it's hopeless...

excellent presentation, these lights are real masterpieces, am envious...must be nice to have ex-navy seal buddies and get a kickass 'night reaper' as a gift... };->
only seen 2 videos by you here but will check them all out, great stuff...
too bad the ph/pf-50 is discontinued, due to excessive temperatures while 'on'??..
but, after checking out polarion site, to me it's the 'abyss dual s' to buy..why is it cheaper than ph40?..it's smaller, more powerful, waterproof and dual settings...

@jimmyhoffa9 At 50W it's still a bit more efficient than LED, at least to my knowledge but I'll stand to be corrected. If we're talking about SST-90s and XML it takes more power to drive an array of them to the same luminous flux as the single Osram 35W bulb at 50W. It takes 7 XML's driven to spec to meet the output of a 45W Polarion but imagine that we're soon to witness the generation of LEDs that fully eclipse HID efficiency at 50W. Throw is a different matter of course.

@MsBickle76 HID, at that power output the efficiency is the same as led, so it doesnt really matter
-
@MsBickle76 Depends on the application. LEDs are essentially shockproof and are incredibly efficient, but the technology, although quite good, is still being developed. HIDs are costlier, but at this point in time are more powerful than LED's. Im no expert, but thats the gist of it. You may want to check out the wikipedia articles. They can give a basic explanation of how they work etc.

@LeMieux250 Oh, OK. is that bettter or...
-
@MsBickle76 they're HID's...

Are they LEDs or what?
Very enjoyable, AND informative. Thanks so much. When anyone laughs at my 900 lumen OLight, I can laugh back at their ignorance, cause they haven't seen ANYTHING YET! Hahahaahaaa! Thanks again for a great video! ~Wolf
