This is one of my favorite quotes from a book on the life of Christ entitled, The Desire of Ages. I composed the music for it in 1987 and made this recording in 1991, May it serve to be a reminder that we don't deserve any of the blessings we receive, but for the grace of God in allowing His Son to come to our sinful world and be treated as we deserve, so that we might be treated as He deserves.

Christ was treated as we deserve
That we might be treated as He deserves.
He was condemned for our sins
In which He had no share,
That we might be justified
By His righteousness,
In which we have no share.
He suffered the death which was ours
That we might receive
The live which was His.
With His stripes we are healed.
Desire of Ages, page twenty-five.

  • @LittleFawn60 Thank you, Dona'! I'm glad it ministered to you!

  • This is !wonderful! Awesome video show to boot!! I am going to teach this to my grandkids!! Faved!

  • @coolanddark Thanks, Dan. I just put this song together so I could remember the passage, It is a profound thought and worth remembering. If we are treated well, it's because Christ was treated poorly to our profound shame. If we're treated poorly, it is still better than we deserve, and it is well to remember that Jesus is touched with the feelings of our infirmities.

  • Jack you wrote a very wonderful song here! I really like that harmony part! Its unfathomable how our Dear Lord Jesus could bare ALL of our sins on the cross that day so we wouldnt have to burn in hell ! He layed down his life for us! There is no greater love than that! Great song!
