This was posted as a response to the very interesting live news event of young six year old Falcon Heene, a child believed to be floating in a custom made UFO-shaped helium balloon high above the sky of Colorado.
As the story unfolded, the news agencies were rapt with shots of the balloon tilting and flying through the air and for a time, the whole world believed that a six year old was trapped inside the small space within.
As it started to lose helium the craft (after a couple hours) began to sink lower and lower, the whole time a helicopter's camera followed (what the world thought) was a boy trapped inside, with comments of him cold and afraid being transmitted on every channel.
Once it hit 500 feet about the ground, the craft began to circle, emergency crews standing by. Each channel trying to keep up with the news, getting ready to black out the screen if the unthinkable happened.
Twitter became overloaded and news updates continued to come out fast and furious. Everyone stood by and watched the landing whether on television or the web, a collective breathe being held as they searched the vehicle for young Falcon.
Tearing at the balloon, deflating the helium, first with a shovel then with other tools, we waited. Minutes passed and then the announcement came that no one was aboard. So where was Falcon?
I wrote this song, during the event - not so much as a tribute to instant fame or recognition, but a chance to tell the story, from my position as a songwriter and how it felt to me as it happened - live in front of us.
Be real curious what you think of the song, thanks for watching.
Song for Falcon
He climbed in, unaware of the state within, and his brother ran, "Father, Father", told him what had happened.
Up with him, felt the lift and the fear set in, hour passed and the news begins, six years old and trapped in.
Slowly falls, freezing winds as the air gets small, crashes down cameras see it all, parents wait for a call.
Crews rush in, help it down and they look within, nothing found it was empty, empty, no one knows what happened.

I would love to hear more.
Glad the kid turned up save in the garage.
He's going to be grounded for a while I think! haha
