TITLE: Spotted nutcrackers collecting seeds from cones of Pinus cembra. LOCATION: Örnsköldsvik (kyrkogården), Ångermanland, Sweden; 3rd August 2009. COMMENTS: several Spotted Nutcrackers ("Nötkråka") are seen in the cemetery of Örnsköldsvik when they come to collect pine seeds from Pinus cembra. They usually first collect the cone and then pick the seeds from the cone in another place (either on the ground or hidden on a tree branch) and then fly away to store the seeds somewhere in the forest for the winter. These are very likely "Slender-billed Nutcrackers" (Nucifraga caryocatactes macrorhynchos). FILMED BY: Dirk Van Gansberghe, with a Canon Powershot SX10IS.
