I first heard this song in Scarbourgh Ontario back in 1983 and i loved it, and it is still a very precious song to me, and Michael Card is a wonderful singer and musician.

absolutely beautiful...does anyone have the sheet music this song?...i really want to play it in church...

You could just as easily call it "Love Crucified a Rose" and do no damage to the message. Truly, the beautiful Rose of Sharon was crushed for MY sins...wow! How can someone be blase' about such a powerful truth?

Thank you Michael for a truly annointed song. I'm playing a clarinet solo of it tomorrow...please pray I do it justice.

Actually Michael Card has it right in my humble opinion. Every study bible will show that the woman is speaking, "I am the rose of Sharon and the lilly of the valley". Those aren't titles of deity, but the preciousness of the church. I believe because Solomon's bride to be is speaking we cannot apply those words to Christ but to the church. Everytime in the the bible that it says " I am", we cannot apply it to Christ. Remember when David said "I am the man" after he sinned.
