@Aristox116 No, what happened was as the influx of users increase the increase of server capacity, ergo ads. Ads are the reason why TV shows are prosperous and it is the reason why actors are paid. Look at all the "partners" on youtube do you realize some of them use youtube as a living? How else do you suppose youtube gains its revenue other than ads. Without ads then partners would not be paid and the ads were also made at the time because of the lawsuits against youtube regarding music.

@tipttt youtube was free before the ads came, because Google make enough money from the ads on all the other things they own/run. The youtube ads are for even more extra money, they arent NEEDED. and since its our using Google's products that gets them money, we should expect a certain standard of quality- which includes not having to endure ads before a video plays; the ads around the side are enough, the video itself is too much.
