Well, I have never been in sweat lodge...just a sauna a few times, that is how we do it in Europe. I guess that a lot of animal hides or blankets of wool (never synthetic...like plastic...this will let of toxic fumes), pure silk or flax all those materials can stand heat and will keep a light rain out. If you are not living on a reservation and in the "white" society...why not go for a sauna instead ? Some spas have them.

Also I feel bad for those people that died in that sweat lodge with that "Motivational Speaker" James Arthur Ray.

Called Hot steam or Steam bath...where i'm from in Alaska....Elder's Love it.
Never use plastic near high temperatures or fire!!! It will let off toxic fumes!!! I knew this already as a child in Scandinavia! You do not need to be Native American to understand pure common sense. I cannot believe how stupid white Americans can be.

@TheDraeStar interesting thought. This sweat was lead by Angaangaq, a Greenland first nations elder. Do you have suggestions as per proper covering material that can be used in remote locations?
