Slayer - At Dawn They Sleep - Felt Forum NYC 88

This is Slayer performing 'At Dawn they Sleep' at the Felt Forum in NYC, 88. This show turned into an ugly mess when fans tore out their seats and started throwing around seat cushions. This show has become know as 'the seat cushion riot.'

The trouble started early on when some geeky guy came out with a San Francisco accent and started ordering around NYC Slayer fans, telling them to "step back."

Tom continued the pleas for everyone to 'step back' at the beginning of this song. Obviously, it wasn't going to happen.

Yeah, I was there with my friend Mark. We didn't rip out any of the chairs or destroy anything though. We left the show thinking that the whole thing sucked, but watching the video now, most of the songs actually came off pretty good. Hard to believe it was 20 years ago.

funny i saw them in providence rhode island in 88 at vetrans memorial auditorium and the same exact thing happened. they never had another metal show there again! great fuking show though it was a hell of a way to go out!

Listen to the asshole yelling at Tom "You r not in San Francisco dude". Slayer is from a very rough part of LA. Tom was saying that shit because they asked him to.

I've seen him kick a guy in the head myself. I wish it would have been this guy.
