If you have the 2-disc DVD for Escape from New York, you've probably seen the awesome deleted futuristic bank robbery scene. The music for this scene was scored back in 1980 along with the rest of the film. When preparing the scene for it's premier DVD release, Carpenter took the opportunity to re-score it using today's modern synths. The music works fine, but it's newer sound is at odds with the rest of the analog score.
The cue "Atlanta Bank Robbery" was first released (as a bonus track) on the previous, somewhat expanded Big Trouble in Little China CD, then again (in beefed up form) on the expanded SILVA Escape from New York.
Here is the deleted scene with Carpenter's original cue "Atlanta Bank Robbery" intact. Restored by yours truly.
This isn't even as good as an old "Mission Impossible" sequence from the 60s. Sorry, not much impressed.
