  • I've been twisted up in fucked up positions during MMA sparing, and BJJ HELPS big time. If you train MMA with out BJJ, you aren't MMAing. MIXED MARTIAL Arts, not brawling.

  • Ryan Hall has a sick open guard.

  • People who says BJJ is not for the street are idiots.

  • this guy's guard is unreal. people in mma that say the guard game is dead need to realize that flexibility makes the guard come alive

  • Point being, its fucking awesome to see people evolve arts and get real good at something. so it doesn't have to have street certification for people to train and do it. UFC and sports fighting is all about the technical shit anyway. The street is to just survive and get the F out of there. Different game, different focus.

  • Most of the stuff you see in BJJ and advanced BJJ is for the refining of the art so you can get proficient enough to do a move from various different positions and flow. But BJJ itself is not street efficient, I would never go to the ground with some guy unless i knew he was unarmed and had no friends.. which, is never for certain anywhere you get into some shit on the street with no rules. BJJ is good to learn for defense and getting the fuck back up. UFC cage with rules? different story.

  • @MMAjitsu11 Even when Ryan Hall succeeds with the inverted guard, his opponents usually sit in it for 60 seconds +, the whole time they could be punching/elbowing/kneeing his face.

  • if you're a dumb fuck you will. you do that shit right they'll be out in second

  • Quit hating. Appreciate this for what it is, a very cool move in a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament. A 360 degree spinning heel kick from Taekwondo isn't practical in a street fight either but in a Taekwondo tournament it looks cool. My point is, you watched a video that is clearly a BJJ video. Don't hate on it when he does a BJJ move. Very nice set-up!! Thanks for posting.

  • @aridavidpaul: agreed. But if you're good enough at BJJ to pull this off, you can do plenty of other more practical moves in a real self defense situation.
