Becker got lucky here. Rostagno was the better player that day and if it wasn't for the lucky bounce, he would have been out. But, luck is a part of the game.

@spjfrat Totally agree, the Spanish clay court players are incredibly boring to watch! Nadal is the tennis equivalent of a root canal surgery. I respect his athleticism, but he's a bloody dirt rat (that's what the players on the circuit call the clay court freaks).
Doesn't have 1% of Becker or Stichs or Sampras' fluidity and style.

@bjornsiborgsi I couldn't agree more, the bastard comes from a lucky net cord at match point down in the first fucking, round, then beats lendl in the final!! By the way, do you know in 1986 the ATP Masters, Lendl and Becker played a truly legendary match and right at the end of the 5th set, after a titani match which lasted hours, on match point, after a 45-50 stroke rally, Becker won the match... on a lucky net cord!!! Triple fuck off!! :-)

Rostagno, one of the last great chip and chargers!! I once saw him as a kid at the White City Open in Sydney, must have been 20 or so years ago, he was out on the court, practising chip and charges in the stinking hot Aussie sun. I wish he won this match.... because hen Lendl would have won this championship!
