The wreck of the Marie J. Thompson sits at the bottom of Key West Harbor. The four-masted, wooden schooner was built at Harbour Island and was the largest sailing vessel ever constructed in the Bahamas. Today, the large and relatively intact shipwreck sits in approximately fifteen feet of water. It is home to a wide variety of fish, corals, and other creatures. The wreck serves as a learning laboratory for an alliance of students and scientists from the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum and the Florida Keys Community College. This video was shot on a stormy September day, when the water was quite murky.
