Man leaves business dinner (presumably celebrating his new position as the company's director) in order to comfort his daughter.

A powerful and emotional advert.

I think the agency behind the advert is Santo. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

pigne:
The music is from "The Assassination of jesse james, by the coward robert ford"

Its by "Nick Cave & Warren Ellis" and the song is "What must be done"
(Thanks pigne)

  • @jayflex so for this advert, who would you say are the specific target audience?

  • @fghtffyrdmns5iana

Me, to an extent. I've had problems with my current network recently, and the caring attitude portrayed in this ad made me consider switching to Vodafone. However, I think this advert was designed to appeal more to women (in a similar situation).

Vodafone are taking a different approach to other networks. They are establishing an emotional bond with consumers (arguably more effective with women), which I think is essential in a market where all products are almost identical.

  • @fghtffyrdmns5iana

More specifically, I think the girl in the advert accurately represents the target audience.

You could even say that the (ex-)boyfriend is the horrible network she used to be on, and Dad is caring Vodafone coming to the rescue.

  • The music is from "The Assassination of jesse james, by the coward robert ford"

its by "Nick Cave & Warren Ellis" and the song is "What must be done"

  • @pigne Thanks for that, I've added it to the description.

  • know the song in the advert?

  • @jdizzler Sorry I don't. I assumed it was just a small piece of music written for the advert. I could be wrong though.

  • @GeeFunk752 Hey did this girl carry on and do more work? Been keeping an eye on this thread for a year in hope!!!

  • "Dad. He's left me..."

    .....

"Your call has been diverted to the vodafone voicemail..."

  • very,very queer advert.

  • It's very crazy...no one knows the Movie "The Assissnation of Jesse James"...but THIS Song is fu**ing everywhere... :D Soo cool :)

  • "Power to you"? Kind of shallow when Vodafone dodges their proper tax in England. Learn more. Search and subscribe to undercurrents on Youtube.

  • "Dad, he's left me." "IM IN A FUCKING MEETING!"

  • I understand the point they're trying to get across is that the daughter is more important to her father than a big career break.

What kind of annoys me is that the daughter's reason for the interruption. Wow, a break-up? Go eat some Ben & Jerry's and watch a chick flick. I would sympathize with this advert more if the daughter were in an accident or something.
