Comparison with the original footage and my version: http://youtu.be/pjeHZ9poew4
Fun 8-bit version: http://youtu.be/YBhwViFg0tk

This is a partial making-of video.
Ultra-resolution, smooth-motion, detail-enhanced, color-corrected, interpolated from the original 4 frames per second to 30 frames per second. This video plays real-time at the speed that Curiosity descended to the surface of Mars on August 6, 2012.

Share this video with your friends. It's mind-blowing that everyone on Earth has a chance to see this amazing footage from Mars :)

I dont get why the mountain range detail - i presume - doesnt get much bigger as the craft approaches closer to the ground? And especially the features in the light brown landscape dont appear much larger during the whole decent? You dont get a feeling of the suface detail increasing as you would zooming in on say google earth? Is this because the surface detail is man made art rather than detail extracted from the actual pictures shot at 4 frames per second?

Outstanding! The sound adds to the exhilaration! I'm not sure people recognize the time and work that was invested in the making of this video (or, in this case 'making of'). It makes me want to space travel… lol
