Helen Woodward Animal Center seems to be the only ones who will help Puerto Rico animal shelters and Puerto Rico street dogs. Most Puerto Rico shelters have a 98% kill rate. Through animal welfare education and business classes, we can help Puerto Rico shelters save the street dogs. For more information on our animal shelter conference, please visit www.animalcenter.org.

  • Is there a way i could help? Beside adopting. I wish i could adopt, but i live with my parents and they wont allowed me to adopt another dog. What are the way i could help? Im moving this summer to puerto rico and i will do anything to help. People are so ignorant and i extremely mad at myself for being one of them when i was living there.

  • @yuna4034 We have quite a few humane education programs here at the Center and would be more than happy to share our resources with you. Please contact our humane education department at christyd at animalcenter. org for any assistance. Thank you again for your commitment to this cause.

  • @yuna4034 Thank you so much for commenting and for your courage and desire in wanting to help animal welfare issues in Puerto Rico. One of our goals is to help implement humane education programs in Puerto Rico. In order to change the future of animal welfare, it is important to impact the children. The goal of humane education is to establish a sense of responsibility within children. Therefore, it has the potential to be a vital, dynamic force for change within a society.

i hate humans that's why i put my animals first i saved 1 of them from outside!

TAKE CARE OF YOUR ANIMALS DUMB HUMANS!

  • All of these dogs with mange need mitaban dips and voren injections. I pray for those of you who have the money and resources to go to Puerto Rico and help. I am currently working in veterinary medicine, but come from animal welfare and would love to give more of what I know on organizing funding and creating places for these dogs to live safely. But I live in PA. I have no money to get there or I'd be there already. I wish the best for you in ur mission, I only wish I could help .

  • For people like me, that didn't believe a dog in the condition you've seem some in the video could get better... Believe me, I've seen this. It takes some medication, a beloved care giver and a lot of commitment. Please Santuario Canita, share how they do after the treatment....

  • It's embarrasing for us puertorricans that someone outside of our country have to come to teach us things that are so basic. But thank God for that people that have decided to come and help us. I hope that with this project people here stop being so ignorant and grow a conscious .

  • This Saturday we are starting to move all this sick dogs to a new area. Finally we can celebrate this! Now this dogs can receive the skins medications and in a few months you will see the change. Thanks Mark for all, you will be proud of the Canita Sanctuary and all the staff. Thanks for all!
