well to go it to work on VHF you would have to make each ends of the dipole longer, however then it wouldn't fit on the shoe box! ;)

Step One:
Steal a box of sneakers...
The antenna is a half wave dipole at 476 Mhz. This is UHF TV channel 14. This is a good antenna if you are between two stations on the same channel 180 degrees apart. Probably wouldn't work too well on VHF.
