Historically when government officials are allowed firearms and the public are not, then the government does what it wants without fear or resistance and the country becomes a police state without any say from it's people. Why is it that so many people trust the police and the government with guns but cannot trust citizens to own them? Are police always safe with firearms? NO

@thesnarkasticone since more people are killed by cars than guns, it does a better job regardless. If your or my daughter uses a pistol to induce fear in a would be rapist, I call that a good thing.

Good for you. Shooting is a fine sport. People drag race or speed race at tracks, yet drive safely on the road. Shooting does not make you a killer or a nut, it helps make you a tolerant person and keeps you fit. The Swiss are all armed by law, yet are not a country of murderers. The best 'gun control' is to severely punish the criminal- something we haven't learned to do in Canada.

Really? Can you show me which cars were DESIGNED to MOST EFFECTIVELY KILL PEOPLE?
Maybe the chief didn't respond because he doesn't have the time to deal with delusional non-sense so convoluted, the perpetrators can't even admit to its insanely illogical basis.
They may be fun to shoot, but assault rifles are and WILL ALWAYS be made to be an effective tool for MURDERING HUMANS.

What kills? Guns, or people? Whether it's knives or spoons, cars or guns... where there's a will there's a way and people will always find a way to kill whether there are guns or not. Fix the problem, dont put a band-aid on it. until we fix the problem of the person, mechanical device isnt to blame. just like a guy who cant play sports blames it on his equipment... pretty pathetic.
