    Dr O'Keefe,

    I feel there's an important nuance missing in here. You seem to assume that ultra running is "extreme" and that it is a sport practiced at high intensity for hours on end. While this might be true for competing ultra runners, I think it's safe to say that most ultra runners practice this sport at much lower speed an effort as they run shorter distances.

    I've never seen a cardiologist or a scientist at an ultra event. This is NOT Iron Man. Why don't you come see it for yourself?

    I would think a news release about a research publication would be a little more specific. Without presenting the data in a scientific fashion, the interview sounded more like opinion/commentary. The devil is in the details, methodology, the statistics and the interpretation of the results. While I imagine the research article will eventually be posted, I find it a little inappropriate for the authors to push forward this commentary without allowing the viewer the chance to examine the facts.

    Unless you are from Kenya;

    it seems like people from Kenya are genetically made to Run fast over long distances.
