@w5pda: Some of the 102A3s were 8V71N-powered and they were loud--like the Plaza Travels II Charters & Tours.

@baul104 The 6v92 sings to the soul too, just not as loud as the 8v71 ;-)
-
@w5pda: The only time I've ridden on the MC-9 that was back in April of 2005 when it had the 6V92-engine...

@baul104 You've no idea what you're missing...the 8v71 sings to the soul :-)

I agree. To me, the dash 9 was nicest looking bus MCI ever made if not by any bus manufacturer period. I'll take one with one with the 8v71 and automatic. The 8v71 was rare in these after 1980 as the 6v92 became the standard engine.

Theres a big difference in sound between the 8v71 and the 6v92 and rode on MCI -9's with both engines alot. Nothing beats the 8v71. The 6v92 was standard for MCI's built after 1980 if you ordered automatic transmission. The 8v71 was standard if you ordered manual.

We have one of these for my band exactly the same sound too!
That was in the NYC metropolitan area!
