I see that was James Mason who narrated (one of my all time favourite actors, his portrayal of Humbert in Lolita is a tour-de-force)...
Despite the ego and psychosis, I'm a von Stroheim fan, and its good to hear a positive portrayal of him from his American wife, even though he was estranged from her living in France with his secretary for the last half of his life!!

This interview of Gloria Swanson isn't so Norma Desmond-esque.
She's quite relaxed - and a bit modern. She is indeed the greatest star of them all.
Also, Stroheim is a fucking genius.
