A quick and amateurish product review for the Auvio 3.5" Portable Digital TV, which is also sold under the RCA and MyGoTV brand names. Got this one for free from the RadioShack store where I work because it's a damaged display model that couldn't be sold (It still works, it's just unsellable because a battery leaked and caused some cosmetic damage).
Here's a quick summary of what I discuss in the video...
PROS:
-One of the first truly pocket-size portable DTV's I've seen (It was released in late 2009, other models do exist by now though).
-Uses regular AA batteries, perfect for extended or repeated power outages (Most other portable DTV's have built-in rechargeable batteries, which cannot be recharged during extended power outages).
-Excellent image quality and color, even though it's not HD or widescreen.
CONS:
-EXTREMELY fragile built-in antenna that provides poor reception on its own.
-An external antenna is a must for proper reception, but this requires a special adapter which is not included.
-DC power jack is a really odd voltage (5V instead of 6V), so it may be hard to find an adapter that works properly.
-Cannot be used in a vehicle that is in motion (This is a limitation of the ATSC standard and not specifically a problem with the TV itself).
Final score I gave this is 3/5...average, but could be quite good if you are aware of and can live with its cons.
How close to the broadcasters/ city do you live? Because I have a PCTV USB TV tuner and the reception sucks with the budget TV antenna (its actually called that xD) so I'm wondering if it has a better tuner inside, I only live like 5-10 miles and on top of a hill from the transmission tower so I would think my reception should be better
