Despite bringing in Baseball America's No. 1 recruiting class, LSU began the season in an unfamiliar place: the bottom of the SEC. But while the Tigers had growing pains early in the season, the talented newcomers now have this team looking to close historic Alex Box Stadium with a bang. They were 6-11-1 in SEC play when Paul Mainieri moved his best pitcher, swingman Jared Bradford, into a full-time closer role. Now the Tigers are riding a program-record 20-game win streak, including consecutive conference sweeps against South Carolina, Kentucky and Mississippi State that helped them climb to a No. 7 national seed. "Our mentality is completely different from the beginning of the season," Mainieri said.
