Chris Doleman Highlights from the Minnesota Vikings Chat http://facebook.com/minnesotavikingschat podcast.

NOTE: Doleman had EIGHT not 82 career interceptions. I made a rather ridiculous slip of the tongue in the video and said 82 when I meant eight. Sorry.

Chris Doleman (#56) was the fourth overall selection of the 1985 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings out of the University of Pittsburgh. The 6'5", 289 lbs. defensive standout played linebacker in college and continued as an outside linebacker early in his career when the Vikings employed a 3-4 defense.

When his team switched to a 4-3 defensive scheme, Doleman moved to defensive end, which is where he accumulated most of his 150.5 career sacks, which is fourth all-time behind only Bruce Smith, Reggie White, and Kevin Greene.

In 1989, Doleman recorded 21 sacks, the third most in a season. That year, his Vikings team sacked quarterbacks 71 times, second only to the 1984 Chicago Bears, who recorded 72 sacks.

In addition to the 150.5 sacks, Chris Doleman had 44 forced fumbles, 8 interceptions, two safeties, and 2 touchdowns during his 14 year career. He was an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and a three-time 1st Team All Pro.

Chris Doleman played for the Minnesota Vikings from 1989-1993, for the Atlanta Falcons from 1994-1995, for the San Francisco 49ers from 1996-1998 and then he returned home to the Minnesota Vikings for his final season in 1999.

  • 82 INT's?? Wow, pretty good for a Defensive End! Whoever made this does not know anything about football otherwise you would never even say that, even as a mistake... YIKES.

  • @fluxerflixer1 He had eight interceptions. Thanks for pointing out the mistake. It was a slip of the tongue. A BAD slip of the tongue, I admit, but just that.

  • YEAHHHH HALL OF FAME FOR CHRIS DOLEMAN!!!!!

  • The interception return for a touchdown is Walker Lee Ashley who played LB in the mid to late 80s, not Chris. I do however remember a pick six that he had against Tampa Bay in the "old sombrero". Good luck to this man. Hope he gets the recognition that he deserves.

  • he is the most underrated nfl player ever.

  • 82 Interceptions?

  • It's a joke how underrated he is. Actually, it's criminal how underrated he is. He was a great run stopper too.

  • Skol

  • @JrThEgReAt88

    My favorite Viking of all-time.

  • I'm proud of my Uncle. Hopefully next time around, the "Hall" gives him the call.
