@darkwood777 WROOONG ! Throughout the remainder of the 60`s,many tv,radio & newspapers STILL insisted on calling him Cassius Clay, especially the racist sportsreporters, Jimmy Breslin, Dick Young,& Jimmy Cannon ! It wasn`t until after the Supreme Court VINDICATION in June 1971 that the MARJORITY as a whole started referring to him as Muhammad Ali,the ONLY 2 exceptions to that were the blacks ( for obvious reasons), AND Howard Cosell who was the only sportsreporter who called him his new name !

"I've been watching your show I was this small"
Mr. Daly must've been thinking: Boy! Do I feel old!

@thesocialpet 1965 (That's when he fought Patterson)

@ComposerInUK You're right. I don't know for sure. I don't let it take away from the fact that it was a fun show to watch for everyone and I appreciated it even though I'm just 22 lol

@jvmst You're right of course, but I don't believe there was any foul play involved. New York has hundreds of theatres and movie houses and of course the panel kept themselves in the know about who would be in town and often spoke about it on the show. I don't believe there was cheating involved. I'm sure you don't either, jmvst...

I suppose he's the sexist boxer of the program ?

What year was this show? Wiki-pedia says he didn't change his name until 1964.
-
@tsopuaifa Because he'd just changed it.

@angelzap100 Your intuition is correct. I just finished reading an article in which the host of the show once told reporters long after the show canceled that the contestants knew who the celebrity was by simply hearing through word of mouth that they were in town or reading that they would be in town that day for a promotion of an album, movie, or in this case, a fight.

Probably the greatest fighter who ever lived. His stance against the vietnam war, his fight against racism, and his personality made him the most famous and controversial figure of our time.
