  • I'm not going to call his skills into question, as he certainly seems to have at least a good deal of experience, but the big guy in red didn't really use that axe to it's potential. With his hand tucked under the head, he couldn't chop with it and hook a shield or a weapon. The way he was using it to defend and occasionally thrust could have been done with a sword, spear or polearm.

  • @Lupos1980 It is a different style of fighting. He does use use the axe to punch with the blade and hook when in close. The opportunity just did not present itself here. He is using at as a shield which has some offensive capability. The sword is the main offense weapon in this form. Just like any other form, it has strengths and weakness. The form basically gives up some of the defense of a shield in some added offense. Visibility and maneuverability is also gained.

  • @Lupos1980 The form is somewhat vulnerable to thrusts, so as you can see he maintains distance. He uses the butt-spike of the axe to threaten at a distance and distract while attacking with the sword from another direction.
