  • This session is the first time Holiday - Lady Day - and Prez (Lester Young) recorded together. Judging from the mx# (B20568-1) it’s the very first song they recorded together. The flip side of this Brunswick 7824, This Year’s Kisses, is B20569-2.

    Also recorded at this session: Why Was I Born & I Must Have That Man.

    The two had first met in 1934, in New York; it was then, apparently, that they’d exchanged nicknames. :I:

  • first time I ever heard this song was on a public brodcasting station honoring Billie Holiday. I was about maybe 12 or so. I thought this was the catchiest song and hummed it all week lol
