First off, you have no way of knowing why most people watch notre dame games and neither do I, but I don't say that I do. Second Off, Notre Dame makes more money off of Jersey Sales and ticket sales than any other college team; most people don't buy a team's jersey if they aren't fans of that team. Notre Dame has sold out every game since the late seventies which is far longer than any other team. Nobody pays between 80 and 400 dollars just to see a team lose, that wouldn't make any sense.

Here's the point that you're missing, kittycat: most of the people who tune in to the ND games are hoping that you lose! Most of the country is automatically rooting for whichever team ND is playing. Everybody knows you're a bunch of arrogant, ignorant, hypocrites. Go chase the altar boys. You are ND!

notre dame is hated by alot of people, but they also happen to have the largest fanbase as well. No other team has a contract from a major television network (NBC) that puts all of their games on televistion. The reason is because Notre Dame is the most popular team in college football. NBC knows that no matter what other games are on television, Notre Dame's game will have the most viewers.
