The Knutsford Great Race 2000

An extract from Knutsford's unique three hour Penny Farthing endurance race, held only every 10 year, the last race being staged back in September 2000. When 34 teams took part in the race,around Knutsford's picturesque Moorside 1/2 mile circuit. Despite the wet and windy conditions, we are happy to report that there were no accidents on or off the circuit. The winner Jim Brailsford completed 106 laps and was followed by the ladies World Penny Farthing Champion, Austrailian Nicky Armstrong who was close behind completing 104 laps. The next Knutsford Great Race will take place on 5th September 2010.......why not get your entry in now?

Love the racing using the Pennys.

I use a cycle during the corse of my employment, I have covered over 2000 miles in 56 weeks. Every one at work takes the micky and say that I ride a Penny Farting, but it is realy a old mountain bike.

Can you please send me date of next race love to come and watch or evan have a go if I get hold of a Penny.. Live in Stoke.
