Thotawatte is one of the leading filmmakers in the Children's scene. 'Handaya' came into the silver screen in 1979 and became an instant success. I was fortunate to watch the film in Metro, Nugegoda.
Thotawatte is well known as a top editor for classic films directed by Lester James Peiries. Later on he went on to do dubbing for Rupavahini children's programme 'Dosthara Honda Hitha' (Dr Do Good).

I remember my mom took me to watch this in Nugegoda in the early 80s. I remember the red leather seats in the theater and the occasional bite from the ticks :-D
It's so good to hear even the beginning of this song after a long time..

Dear Vidhura,
Handaya and Madol Duwa were the two famous kids movies of the 70s. Pretty sure that I too would have seen it at the Metro cause it was only Rs 1.10 and we did not mind the ceiling fans for that price !!
