Nice view of Manhattan from an Amtrak train coming down from Boston. Old World Trade Center towers can be seen in the distance.

  • cool, does this train do all east coast?

  • Check out Amtrak's website for routes and schedules. Trains from Boston go all the way down to DC and Virginia. Trains from New York City go down to Florida.

  • OMG I always take the Grand Central to manhatten and never have i seen on a train on that bridge. It's either always under construction or just empty. So i guess the bridge is still functional huh?

  • Amtrak used to operate into Grand Central until 1991.

  • Nope that bridge is still active. That is called "Hell Gate".

  • And don't forget Baltimore.

  • No. The Amtrak train from Boston goes into Penn Station and then continues south towards Newark, Wilmington, Philadelphia, Washington and Newport News, VA.

  • So, you bypass Penn station?

  • Grand Central (Metro-North) trains use different approaches than Amtrak because Amtrak doesn't go to Grand Central.
