I was 5 years old when this was shown and I remember it like it was yesterday - scary! If I was ever at my grans when I was off school ill or on school holidays, they'd always have the BBC News on at 1pm and always remember this title sequence.
@notgillcup I agree with you. As a matter a fact, in the early 80s, all the BBC bulletins had the same intro until the start of sixty minutes. The bulletins then had their own intros from 1985 and 1986

He was always my favourite news reader. I used to watch this news everyday at lunch time from 1987 - 1992 when I'd come home from school for lunch.
