@JKirkman27 How is she going to do the NEX measurements on suctioning, shouldn't you do that with NG TUBE? just wondering since this was a sterile procedure too???
-
You should hyperoxygenate your pt prior to doing the suction, though this is not done regularly at the hospital setting. Wear gloves ALL THE TIME when having contact with any patient, it's standard precautions. Cheers!

This is a stupid question I'm sure, but when you hyperoxygenate (prior to nasal suctioning) using a BVM, NOT thru an ET tube, but instead using the mask, should gloves be worn or is it unnessesary? I don't want to break the sterile field by using the sterile gloves in the kit.

what about hyperoxygenating your patient.

And no self-inflating manual resuscitator to hyperoxygenate. Sheesh. By the third time this lady suctioned this patient they would be hypoxemic.

jkirkman27 was right she should measure the tube first before inserting it to the patient's nose....

good video other than she didn't measure from the tip of the patient's nose to the tip of the ear lobe before placing the tube down the patient's nose and not completely removing the suction catheter and relubing the end and waiting 20 secs between each suction and alternating nares
