CFTB: A Joe Jonas bad boy story Ch.35

Chaper 35

Joe sighed as he looked into her eyes and told his story.
" When I was 10, I was playing football and I collapsed. I dont' know why, but I just did, I blacked out. The next thing I knew, I was in the hospital. They said that it was over working my body and they sent me home. A couple of weeks later, I was just walking donw the stairs at my house when I felt this pain in my chest. It was bearable at first, but it kept getting worse and worse until I coudn't take it anymore. I started to walk down the stairs, when it become so intense my whole body hurt. I couldn't even breath it hurt so bad, Catelyn!" he looked up at her, and she could see his eyes filling with tears. " I screamed and grabbed my chest as my legs gave out and I fell down the stairs, rolling in circles. I don't remember much after i fell, it all went black and I never felt myself hit the ground. I just remembered no longer feeling pain as my vision grew blurrier and eventually left completly. I heard some screaming around me, but couldn't see anything. I remember opening my eyes in the hopsital, seeing Nick and my dad sitting across from me, and then blacking out again." The tears were rolling down his eyes now. Catelyn used her free hand to wipe them away. " I remember opening my eyes again, it couldn't have been more then 5 minutes later, but apparently it was... about 6 and a half weeks later. I remeber seeing a lot of white around me, and tubes...lots and lots of tubes stretching from numerous machines and ending somewhere in my body. i was scared! I was only 10! I started to pull them all out as quickly as i could, bad idea there!" he forced a small smile. " I pulled out a tube, and I felt a tug in in my throat and the air sucked out of me. I found out later I'd pulled out the breathing tube they had put in me. The nurses came at that point and reattached everything as I screamed for my mom and dad. Finally, I saw my mom come rushing in and grab me and pull me into a hug. That's when I saw the calendar- it was November 18th. I know when I looked at a calendar before the stair incident it said September 4th, so I was confused. The Doctor said that after I blacked out, I was rushed to the hospital and had a CT scan done. They said that as soon as they did it, I was rushed into surgery. My mom said that the surgery lasted something like 11 hours or something like that, and that they weren't sure I would make it. I made it out, but about 6 hours after the surgery they said I had fallen into a coma. And that's where I was for the next 6 weeks until I had woken up that morning. They wouldn't tell me what kind of surgery I had, but I overheard my mom talking to the doctor- heart surgery. I asked her later what happened, and she cried as she told me I had a heart defect and needed the surgery to fix it. I had to have a triple bypass because of the defect. I spent another 2 weeks in the hospital before heading home. But, about 2 years later, when I was 12, I was sent to the hospital and back into the same surgery again when I collapsed at church on Christmas Day. Same surgery, and after 5 weeks I woke up from the coma that one had put me in. The doctors did another CT scan when I woke up, and said the defect had grown into a major hole in my heart, and said I needed a heart transplant. I was put on a list and after a week sent home." he sighed when he finished and Catelyn looked up and saw his eyes glistening as a single tear fell down his cheek. She reached up to wipe it away, as she had many times during the story, and he grabbed her hand and held it to his cheek as he closed his eyes and breathed in deeply. She looked back down to his scar and traced it with her free fingers on her other hand."When did you get the transplant?" she asked softly and slowly as he rubbed her hand with his thumb. He opened his his eyes and looked down at her before answering, "I haven't yet. That's why I have to go to the hospital once a month to get a CT scan to make sure the hole doesn't get any bigger and to make sure the medication is working. They are still waiting for a donor to come along." his voice trailed off as he finished, and he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer to him, laying her head on his chest. She didn't know what to do or what to say, so she just layed there and closed her eyes as he stroked her hair gently. "I'm sorry." she whispered into his chest as she felt a teardrop fall into her hair.

): the same thing happened to me ): but idk if i got a heart transplant or anything like that.. i was only 3 or 4 so i dont remember anything.. and my parents dont like to talk about it ]': but when they do it always makes me feel sad.. now i have a big scar from the surgery they did
