Tie it off to what? Could you demo that too please - the complete trap?
Just a note, too (I'm sure you already know) - if you're going to cover up a trap with leaves, etc. do NOT take the material from immediately surrounding your trap. You disturb the ground if you do, and it's noticeable... it can spook whatever it is you're trying to trap.
(might want to fix that wind noise :p ) Thanks for sharing this, always look forward to your videos, I try new things by you guys every time I go out.
heres and idea. add a toggle switch spring snare in the bottom of the hole, run the string across the ground with a heavy weight on the end, so when the animal steps into the trap its leg is also broken by the falling weight of the rock, or log on the other end of the string. could use a cliff, log, steep hill or dig another hole for which the weight has space to fall to get the leg bone to snap.

Next time if you to cut out some of the wind, try covering the mic in a balloon made of some kind of netting - anything that will cut the moving air

what happens if the deer doesn't step in the very center? what happens if it steps between the two rings? would the sticks still catch?
Could you solve this potential problem by making the rings closer together?
