Node.js is a system for building network services for Google's V8 JavaScript engine. In this presentation Ryan Dahl, the man behind Node.js will introduce you to this event-driven I/O framework with a few examples showing Node.js in action. Ryan will also talk about the recent release of v0.4.0 and how to use some of the new APIs.

What's your fucking problem with that? That video is about technology, programming and the internet. These things are not for sissies. I suggest you watch some videos from Zed Shaw and ask for bleeping in the comments there. That will cause a lot of fun.

meh. Node.js is about as mind blowing as perl or php. Actually , perl or php are more mindblowing cept they aren't available as a client side scripting languages

The problem with MASS appeal for javascript has been that nobody served javascript as either a commandline or serverside scripting language. Because JS was browser specific only it was too specialized.

At least node.js has finally come out to close the gap and make javascript more general purpose.

To many programmers, PHP is a "toy" language, not really good for serious work. To many other programmers, Windows is a "toy" operating system, not really good for serious work. To others, both are quite important and essential for their real work. So, equating the two lets those two groups laugh at each other.
