Balaji Prabhakar is a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Stanford University, which would appear to make him outside of the normal focus of Community Balance, but because of his deep insight into network theory and algorithms he has discovered that many of these ideas can be applied directly to "Societal Networks", the relationships, interactions and activities we participate in our daily lives in out Communities. In this show, Community Balance's host, Suzanne Barnett, asks Prof. Prabhakar to describe his background, his world view, and how he has devised incentive programs to relieve "congestion" in societal networks including real traffic congestion in Bangalore and increasing recycling at Stanford University. This Network theory applied to Societal Networks.
Part 1: Prof. Prabhakar's background. Part 2: Prof. Prabhakar's perspective. Part 3: Incentive systems applied to societal networks.
