Bernie Sanders explains the implications of oil speculation on MSNBC in light of data that was made public which lists the companies that had direct linkage to the high oil prices in 2008. What must be done in response to this excessive speculation, which hurts the average American and the American economy, is also discussed by Sanders.

  • The world is going to end, don't you GET IT?

  • @rfd177 think about it! we went off the gold standard in 1971, so every dollar sense hasn't been worth the paper it' being printed on. so just like supply and demand, the more that are printed the less value it becomes. Now there is a bit of speculation. but compare anything of value on the us dollar or the dollar against another (more stable) currency, like the franc and everything seems to increase. food, energy, gold...even the franc is stronger. so tell me how it's all speculation again?

  • @scalp340 I was brainwashed like this once too. I bought in to too many lies for far too long before I came to my senses. Wall Street is killing the American dream, the middle class and ultimately America with their GREED!

  • in 1961 gas was @ $.31 a gallon, so with 3 dimes in 1961 you could get a gallon of gas. but if you kept those exact same dimes in your pocket for 50 years. they would be worth $11.40 today and you could get 3 gallons for the same 3 dimes. making gas 3 times cheaper toady, then it was 50 years ago (if you base it on something of real value). which means its mostly inflation, not speculation!

  • "The first thing you need to know about Goldman Sachs is that it's everywhere. The world's most powerful investment bank is a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into anything that smells like money."

  • @vargulf19 OK thanks for the information!

  • I am a strong paleoconservative, and i believe Sanders has more integrity than most of the republicans in congress, and certainly more than the democrats

  • Way to go Bernie! Too bad you're not a Canadian... We've got a political party that's looking for a leader just like you!

  • America's Jack Layton; bravo Bernie!
