  • Thanks a lot. I'll be sure to give that a go on the river. Maybe I'll see you there!

  • You might catch Paul out there, I only look after his video work but he's out on the rivers in the deep south quite often and is very approachable, so feel free to say hi.

  • Hey fantastic vid guys, good to see some nice footage without crap music dubbed over it. Im in the Uk at moment and cant wait to get back to NZ to Fish.!

  • Good on ya mate, this particular river fishes really good because it's almost impossible to get to these spots unless you know the land owners. Good sized fish in this river and quite approachable as they don't spook easy. Glad you liked the video, this is a pilot for a show we may look at doing focusing on New Zealand trout fishing.

  • What sort of indicators are you using?

I typically use a yarn indicator but when my nymphs drift through a bit of weed every now and again the yarn gets drowned and I need to dry it.

  • Paul was using just a little wool that he pulled off the fence. He likes this because it stands out, is found just about anywhere, needs just a little waterproofing and is free. He always carries a little as back up but fluffed wool makes a good indicator and because it costs nothing and you can find it on most sheep fences, you can just pick up a piece as it suits. Also, it can be discarded by the river bank to help prevent the spread of rock snot. Hope that helps
