Whether jazz, pop, hip-hop, rap, R&B, emo, or rock, music has been at the center of a controversial debate. I, for one, don't feel that the issue is as provocative as we'd like to believe.
Feel free to tell me what you think.

NOTE: I apologize if I sounded rude near the end. I don't mean to say that I know EVERYTHING about music, but if you want to comment, please plan your thoughts carefully. Also, yes, I know (and agree) that rap has degraded into stolen samples, juvenile rhythms, and nonsensical vulgarity. You need not remind us. :D

  • ...can you be my sensei? and another random question.. is your wife japanise??

  • @bybykitty14: ...she was. Long story. Thanks for watching! ^_^

  • some metal/rock is anti american because there is corruption in our government. Are you blind? Either way, this is a decent vid.

  • @DubstepPromos: Well, being against corruption isn't really the anti-American I was thinking of. I was thinking more about the ones that are flaunting and self-gratifying, making claims about things that are not backed by proof. Thanks for watching!

  • MUSIC DOES SUCK TODAY!

It's all about sex, drugs, auto tune and degrading women. Half the people don't even know how to sing but the fans gobble them up (have people just gotten stupider?). I can't stand it, it makes me cringe to know that people are listening to this crap! And you don't even need to know how to rap anymore just say a couple "uh"'s and "yeah"'s and ta da! You're a rapper!

What happened to all the slow and happy music where the singers aren't cocky and weird?

  • @DrWatsonPostmortem: You know, I might have mentioned it if it was a little more prevalent in 2008. It was still a Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, T-Pain commodity, just beginning to be annoying. Now that it's everywhere, I might consider making a separate video for it. Thanks for watching!

  • How Bad is Music Today? Poor question. More relevant question is: what is bad ABOUT music. Answer is POP. Pop is a concept, not a music genre. Basically, it is vacuous ear candy that appropriates from actual genres in music: rock, punk, rap, jazz etc. This began in the 60s. Today "pop music" has appropriated so much from so many genres that the sheeple cant tell the difference anymore. They call it music.

Then they ask whats wrong with music. See?

  • REALLY bad.

  • @TheNiceGuyzTV Who's Stereo Hearts? Mac Miller? All those guys? They say that I have bad taste of music/ I'm outdated in terms of music. Now, that's just wrong.

All songs nowadays are technologically-enhanced, as in autotune, repetitive chords and so on. It's about women, drugs, etc. Music before was in every way much more meaningful than today.

  • I just started listening to those classical pop music, as in the Beatles, and I really like it. I'm only 13, and for the past few years the only good music that I've listened to was Michael Jackson. I play the piano too, and I really like listening to those classical pieces.

Now, the problem is when my classmates ask what I listen to, and I say classical piano pieces, they go like "Do people even listen to that anymore?" and laugh. Those guys like to listen to singers I really don't know.

  • Good intelligent conversation.... I too think its all about the bottom line for the major Record companies, suppose it always has been, but they USED to sell "emotion" back in the day, songs that were heartfelt, from Artists who lived those lyrics they sang or wrote about. Check out this song on Youtube me and my wife wrote... reneegade nothing without you.... the words came from that place called us!

  • @ghettocumquats BTW my favorite styles of music are basically everything from 1930-1975 and Indie folk/rock from nowdays... also i enjoy classical tune every now and then

  • good music can be found nowdays...just take a peek around the indie genres...they almost always turn up good artists...especially the folk and rock areas... Good video BTW
