Forty years after he first walked on the moon, Buzz Aldrin touched down in Hong Kong.

Whilst in town, he visited the Space Museum to officiate the opening of Beyond Time, an exhibition that showcases gear used during the moon missions.

After a short speech, the 79-year-old space pioneer tried on some replica moon boots and then answered questions from starry-eyed students and professors.

  • May I please know which day did this event happen????

  • June 19, 2009 at the Hong Kong Space Museum

  • Thanks for the quick reply!

Was the Space Museum open for the public at the time? or was it only for the press and people with invitations only?

I want to know because there weren't many people there from what I can see in the video.

  • Yes you're right. There weren't too many people. The event itself was not marketed for the general public, mainly for the press and selected VIPs.

However, on the day itself, the general public were free to enter the building. And of course anyone was allowed to freely visit the exhibition while it was running.

  • Too bad Ieft HK to live in Canada, or I'll be there for sure if I knew there'd be such an event.

Do you know if Buzz Aldrin made any advertised public appearance in HK???

He should have made a fuss like Steven Hawking did when he visited HK. It was a great opportunity to educate the HK public on space exploration. I hope they didn't waste it.

  • Yes, the Steven Hawking lecture was hugely oversubscribed and the hall was packed full...

As far as I know he had a busy schedule in Asia with busy dinners and engagements - mainly organised by his sponsor Omega.

However, I dont think there were any public events.

  • BIG LIER, Just making up stories

  • Buzz Aldrin = FREEMASON

  • how bout a question on UFO's or if he experienced anything bizzare on his flights?

  • The moon missions were faked. Google "The Naked Scientists". In the "New Theories" section of the forum there's a thread entitled "Did we land on the moon?". On page 15 there's a partial summary of hoax evidence. It's the seventh post from the top.

  • Buzz keeps getting better and better and I hope we will be seeing more of him in the future.

  • I feel so sorry for Buzz, it would seem NASA has placed mind blowing amounts of pressure on this man to be there representative and force him to say things to the public that *it seems* he doesnt entirely agree upon, and possibly are very very misleading.

  • I love it when old people remain committed to what they believe in. And I totally agree with Buzz. Space travel is one of the few things I wouldn't mind getting a tax increase for.

  • such astronauts truly should be considered the hugest international celebrities of all time.
