@281JCM I have heard these. My definiton of a 'bassline' is a line played on bass that works with the drums, and posesses groove. Many times I cannot even hear the bass becuase it is doubling the guitar. 'Anesthesia' IS a distorted bass solo, with no groove. 'Orion' starts off well, but the bass becomes indistinguishable. 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' is just a bass riffing with the guitars.

@dharmaseed are u kidding me have u ever listened to a bassline from the first three metallica albums the basslines are amazing unless u think basslines are distorted solo's and if u think tht then listen to anesthesia, orion, or for whom the bell tolls!

Francis Rocco Prestia or Pino Palladino? Cliff Burton wasn't a bass player. Ive never heard him play a single bassline.
