@Xcorgi - The Leroy from the radio show was played by Walter Tetley (Voice of Sherman from the Rocky and Bullwinkle show) who specialized in young boy's voices. By the tim the TV show went on the air, Walter Tetley was nearly 40. Obviously for TV they needed someone who actually was a boy.
