Products have contained lead for the entire existence of the manufacturing industry - it has nothing to do with China's safety standards. In fact, inspections in Chinese factories are even more thorough than they are here in the United States. Factories in the U.S. would be far more likely to have unsafe products than products over seas. There are multiple agencies that inspect products in Chinese factories unlike those here in the U.S.A.
