Good question. Red Garland's approach to block chord voicings evolved from earlier pianists such as Milt Bruckner and George Shearing (Lullaby of Birdland). It is a more fully orchestral sound on the piano. (How Red Garland did it was to play the melody in octaves with the 5th in the middle, plus 4-note rootless voicings in the same rhythm in the right hand that stayed the same until a chord change.) His block chords have such a clean, rich sound that goes right to my soul. :o)

@e4Learning hahahahah Then ok, i see the point. Yes they're pretty full block chords, i'm currently studying drop two by levine and it's so useful for all harmonic instruments
