When I was in MD visiting family last summer, I spent some time at the Seabrook MARC station around the evening rush hour. There were heat restrictions during these few trains, so they were not going full speed. NOTE: I ran out of tape in my camcorder after these clips; the rest of the videos have already been added.

Train 1: A SB Amtrak long distance train heads by with an AEM-7AC leading. Note that the top of the cafe car seems to be burned.
Train 2: A NB MARC Commuter stops with a borrowed Amtrak AEM-7AC leading.
Train 3: A SB Acela passes the departing MARC.
Train 4: A NB Acela shoots by.
Train 5: A SB MARC stops, pushed by a GP40WH-2.
Train 6: A NB MARC stops, also led by a GP40WH-2.
Train 7: A NB Amtrak Regional races past, led by an AEM-7AC.
Train 8: A SB Amtrak Regional comes by with an AEM-7AC.
Train 9: Another SB Amtrak Regional crawls by, this time with an HHP-8.

  • @redsoxfan423 Interesting.. Wonder if those HHPs still have the Acela markings on them..?

  • @AndrewC437 I have no idea, this was the last time that I was on the NEC besides a couple of rides on it.

  • What year was the video done? I noticed that last HHP had Acela markings on it..

  • @AndrewC437 2007

  • Excellent Video! The best Amtrak/MARC video on youtube!

Technically MARC didn't "lease" the AEM-7, they only borrow them for a day or so while Amtrak performs maintenance on MARC's electrics. I live in Germantown, MD and ride MARC's Brunswick Line (CSX). Once again, this is a great vid!

  • Thanks so much! I'll be sure to change the description.

  • Good vid featuring MARC and Amtrak on Maryland's part of the NEC. Its a good line to railfan. I've done some railfanning in this area as well. Good MARC action—strange consists though—but good action.

  • 0:24 Thats Rare

  • you can count on MARC to have weird consists

  • i urge all marylanders to use trains and avoid roads
